This. The same mentality existed a decade later when Hip Hop starting gaining significant momentum and kids weren't exclusively listening to rock and metal any longer. You'd see in rock related magazines, advertisements for shirts that would say Rap is Crap, or You Can't Spell Crap Without Rap. I love it that Hip Hop largely won that battle, cuz Rock is fukkin dead. Embarrassingly dead.
