Warren behind the boards > his cousin

And “take a look over your shoulder” is like a critic in a sewer…

Underrated.

Album hardly has any skips aside from
Its lead single. Always despised Shot the Sheriff.

Didnt check out the album damn near over 20 years later because of it.

Warren was in his producerial
Bag for sure.

And cant forget these loosie goosies/soundtrack cuts/etc.

Smoothest beats in recorded music history.

Why does he get slept on soo much??

I think part of it is, in trying to be like Dre w/ Death Row, he was trying to be the main act when he debuted w/ Def Jam, when, if he was billed more in the producer lane at the outset, that might have helped his longevity. For example, when he was blowing up, he immediately tried to put his people on through his label imprint, and, while there's plenty of good on those Dove Shack/ Twinz records, it didn't help to cement Warren G as the one making those hits/ exec producing those records like more singles under his name would have done b/c people were still thinking of him as the MC from Regulate. Dre was able to clear that lane b/c he was the producer/occasional MC from a group who later broke into a solo album (that was also a new label showcase at the same time). Warren tried the same but he was established on the mic to the masses first, for better or for worse in the long run. So he kept having to make solo albums when his strength seemed to be showcasing others.

But don't deny his talent. Despite N-X-E-Ts and such, he's solid on the mic, and his production rivals his brother's enough that you can have the conversation about him vs one of the established best of all time. There's plenty of great shyt on Warren G projects.

Warren G was always a mid rapper at best but his beats were nice. His remix of Groupie Luv was better than the rest of the 213 album. Idk why Snoop never went to him more.

And Daz is definitely not the most slept on producer from Cali. Daz been putting out mostly mid since Raw. He needs someone to cut his ideas down. Quik isn’t the most slept on either. nikkas been calling Quik underrated for like 20 years now so at this point is it really still true?

nikkas like Battlecat, DJ Pooh, Ant Banks, Cold 187um, Studio Ton, Mike Mosley, and Sam Bostic are the real slept on ones. shyt to me Battlecat is up there with Dre and Quik.

Are the skilled slept on producer who are emcees.

Who are not given just due.

Warren g is a under skilled platinum hitmaking product.
Created by an offshoot of nepotism.
Stop the cap.

Warren g and dj quik are not unheralded. They over achieved. Stop trying to make nikka who were gifted flagship draws and undersigned into some cryptic pity case. Them nikkaz were gifted the world and not skilled like that.

Man, how did i forget this one…

Used to bump this one mad summer of 99

This is one of my favorite songs all time… irregardless of genre:

remember sitting outside of Future Shop after copping this album and was skimming thru the lp: this was on repeat the whole ride. It was literally adoration at first listen.

Me and this track got a thug love jones. Aural bones.
