damn that might be different. Last time I was in the Caribbean I caught so many MF "grouper/snapper" I had to give LBs and LBs away. Didn't know what to do with it. Hit up a chef on a beach front restaurant and told him to fry up and wood fire a lot of em. Threw a little free feast just giving it away to randoms on the beach. Best fish I ever ate

1 of my breh brehs FR was from Senegal. He appreciates a good fish like I do. We use to get so drink eating all types of seafood. I remember 1 time we went to an Italian spot at the bar and I ordered a dish that had pancetta and told him 2 try some. Completely forgot. I've never felt so bad in life. man I miss my dawg

I think I've only had it once a long time ago and thought it tasted ok but not my preferred choice of fish

An uncle of mine and his wife love that fish lol.
They used to eat whiting fish way back but have been team Tilapia for damn near a decade. That's the only kind of fish they buy no cod, pollock, salmon, etc, maybe because it's cheap.
However at t one point whiting used to be the defacto cheap frozen fish in grocery stores but for the past 5 years or so, Tilapia has taken the throne because I don't recall seeing it sold in stores as much as I do now.
I don't think the fish are “man-made” engineered because there are a lot of beloved fish and other sea creatures that are known as the bottom feeders of the ocean
such as catfish, sardines, herring, crawfish, shrimp, etc, and for whatever reason, that's just what they naturally gravitate towards when they need to eat .

I eat it cause it's originally African species, our ancestors probably ate tilapia on the regular

Granted that's not saying much. But Cod is near the bottom for me near catfish. I grew up broke, so I can eat all 3 if they are on the menu though.
