Just to play devil's advocate... we did just about the same.

Sugarhill Records was black-owned and they jerked the fukk out of every artist they had, with one of their flagship groups basically being slapped-together like a boy band. In a way, you can say hip-hop was always destined to become what it became. People forget, even the pro-black rap became a marketing ploy after a while.

When music gets involved with money, it always gets corrupted no matter who's in charge. I can't put it on whites, Jews, black people or anyone in particular. When money's involved and it becomes a business, ain't enough keep it real in the world to stop it from eventualloy becoming diluted.
