Is this the first time wrestling has seemingly experienced a boom while being boring?

I was at the bar watching the Cardinals game Saturday. AEW rerun came on after. Jericho is introducing the inner circle.

*dead silence in the bar*

Someone: WHO THE fukk WATCHES WRESTLING
Someone Else: You probably jack off to this shyt
Another random dude: Sometimes I lay in bed Saturday nights and that ROH Wrestling comes on. I have to turn that shyt.

wrestling has always been a niche market. At times it hits mainstream in parts. Like the Attitude Era and part of the Nitro era.

But with MMA etc out now and wrestling going more PG than ever, strong reactions like this are to be expected. Like no blood, no emotion, guys are smaller than ever, campy angles.....if it wasn't for the fact that most of us watch outta habit, I wouldnt watch.
