What?
Continuing with the PG & Kawhi experiment is a terrible idea.
Sure nobody sane would take on their contracts but both are total liabilities in the Playoffs. Not sometimes. All the time.
Just the stress about possibly not having them in the Playoffs is a drain on the team.
They need to do EVERYTHING in their power (including going deep into the luxury tax) to get a legit 3rd superstar.
Then they need to lock up Russell Westbrook, who was the silver lining of these playoffs for 2-3 or more years.
If you can’t get rid of them (and you probably can’t), yes the only way to be a contender of any sorts is to get a Damian Lillard type super player and pay insane amounts in salary.
Their owner is a billionaire, so technically it’s possible. But it’ll be $40-45 million on top of everything every year ($160-190m for 4 years)
It is that OR suffer each year, play well through the season (I saw the Clippers play the Nets in Brooklyn, and both PG and Kawhi are clearly world class players that are easily the best players on their team) and get that Woj alert that Kawhi this or PG that at the end of the season or during the playoffs (like this year) over and over and over again.
