So do we just suck in relationships as a people?I posted sources in this thread…divorce facts, a university research paper, and a paper from the NIH (government) agency
Not really. A lot of those women were unhappy, I doubt y’all men ever got the stories cuz you didn’t get the sit downs with grannies, great aunts and older cousins. But those women had no choice but to stay married since most didn’t work and couldn’t provide for themselves or a family without their man.Boomer Gen and our grandparents Gen seemed to be best Gen of Black ppl when it comes to marriage.
Wasn't that basically every woman in that era?Not really. Divorce rates are higher amongst lower income people, given the proportion of black folks in lower income levels, I believe that plays a part. I believe the centuries of broken homes from slavery thru Jim Crow plays a part in it. And more recently, the imbalance between educational achievement between black men and women has likely played into it. Seems we just got more shyt stacked against usSo do we just suck in relationships as a people?
Ah. So racism strikes again.Divorce rates are higher amongst lower income people, given the proportion of black folks in lower income levels, I believe that plays a part. A large portion, but not all. There were more white women with family money behind them so they could marry more for love vs convenience, black folk getting married before the 70’s were not likely to have family money, so marriage was the de facto way to some stabilityWasn't that basically every woman in that era?
I guess not. But didn't we see a stat saying most men aren't having sex? How you gonna act like you got options when the one option you got is at home?A lot of BM still operate like single men while married. A lot of BW prioritize height and swag over character and integrity when choosing partners. Combine both and unfortunately none of this is really surprising.
