They weren't beating her up, just petty stuff like trying to cut her hair. Kids can gwt away with a lot co there isn't much a school can do besides suspension/expulsion.
I try to tell her she doesn't have to be liked by everyone. But its a concept thats not getting through. Could be an age thing.

Is self defense in kids useful. If a teen or bigger kid wanted to overpower them would it be that hard?
That’s not petty stuff man. Once kids get away with things they will continuously target something before it spirals out of control. I know this personally because I was a lil bytch a$$hole growing up.
When people try to alter a person's physical appearance whether it be by putting bruises on them or cutting off hair something needs to be done. They have no right to do either. She's 5 and they are 10 years her senior. They know better and the teachers and parents should make them do better

But yeah OP, put your baby girl in boxing classes. Cheap and easy to learn. She'll learn self defense and have a strong mental fortitude.

I’m glad I’m not a parent. You have better self control than me OP. I would have been talking to the school and the kids parents day one. Seen way too many stories of kids killing themselves because they were being bullied.

I just didn't think other kids would bully a 4/5 year old. But I guess it starts at some point. I guess i pictured bullying as a highschool type thing not something little kids do or teenagers do to first graders.
just thought certain things were funny, nothing too deep. Plus I felt untouchable because everyone knew of the people I had in my corner so i got away with everything. Oh you’re the mother? That’s even better you don’t need to do anything like that, kids will target her even more. All you have to do is park your car when it’s time to pick her up. Walk over to her and everyone around, and just say. “What you playing? You had fun today. It’s time to go” then hit all the kids with the
right in all their eyes. Once they see that’s who she has behind her and you don’t play no shyt. They’ll back off on their own, kids fear strong authority figures.

As someone who has a younger sister, it happens at all ages. Got to shut it down ASAP before it becomes a problem.

The physical stuff is secondary, but yes. The main thing is talking her through how to carry herself and how to be okay in her own skin, so when people tease or bully her it won't be the end of the world. The physical activity will help with self esteem and a sense of being capable, but that's reinforcement. The foundation has to come from you.

if a teenage girl wants to cut her hair, self defense wont work at her lil age. school needs to be more involved in supervising really small kids
See if you can get them into martial arts,dance,Gymnastics or something like that to get into after school get her DGAF confidence up. That will teach them whatever they need to learn about progressive social interactions and handling their self.
