Is this a good laptop?

Ehh its okay its at least 3-4 yrs old. Ok for basic tasks. The intel 4500hd integrated graphics sucks balls. Plus since it is a older laptop the Li-ion battery may need replacing.

Edit: It looks like it has Win xp on it. If it does stay away!

So either of them two ASUS u posted are more "modern" and better than the HP? I do not play games . but good video playback is a must.....an HDMI out would be nice too, but not necessary.

Those Asus laptops are weaker and built worse than the 8440p, but they do have USB 3.0. Depending on your tastes you might like the Asus designs more

All EliteBooks use DisplayPort not HDMI, so that means you'll have to buy a DisplayPort to HDMI cable/adapter, but you shouldn't have to spend more than $10.

That's a lot older than the one I linked and less powerful for only like $50 bucks less. You would be better off finding another eBay deal for the 8440p.

The cheaper one has Win8 and a smaller HDD, but he doesn't specify how the HDD fast it is. It could be a good deal or maybe you'll find something is fukked up with it down the line

I think I'll go the refurb route w/ this one.....Are u saying that WINDOWS 7 is better than WIN 8 tho? Which Windows should I stay away from?

Nah I was just listing the differences. Win8 is measurably better than Win7 in many ways.

Those older elitebooks offer far more durability I wont deny, But their bulky and heavy and have older subpar graphics subsystems. Even if you don't play games these more modern chipsets offer other graphics compute functions such as accelerating flash, video codecs, web browsers such chrome and firefox. Those Asus I posted are good laptops with hdmi and modern chipsets and better battery life.

Yep, Think about how often you use a cd/dvd drive? For the few times will will use one just buy a external for 40-60 bucks. I don't even burn cd/r no more Im all digital bluetooth & streaming
