The Truth About 4Batz: Who's the Guy Drake Just Collaborated With?

I've been seeing a lot of chatter recently about 4Batz potentially being an industry plant. Given the rapid rise to fame and the coveted Drake feature, I get where the speculation comes from. But, I've done some digging, and it's time to set the record straight: **4Batz is not an industry plant**.

Before he was known as 4Batz, he was an indie artist grinding away on SoundCloud under the username **Spidey4x X**. For those who doubt, you can still find traces of his real voice and earlier work there. It's raw, it's genuine, and it's him.

His presence wasn't just limited to SoundCloud. His oldest TikTok account u/spideybihh reveals a lot about his pre-fame days. This account, which he still follows from his official 4Batz TikTok, gives us a glimpse into his journey, even tho he denies it, it's him. Furthermore, his last account before hitting it big was u/love4trust. A quick look through his following list there uncovers a connection to u/Elenas_favs, a TikToker known for spotlighting "underrated indie songs." It's here that the track "act I: stickerz '99" made its debut in a TikTok in August 2023, amassing 400k views and 50k likes.

This buzz didn't go unnoticed. Industry insiders and label managers are known to monitor such accounts for emerging talent. Amber Baker, the Creative Director at RCA, was among those who saw the potential. In a Billboard interview, 4Batz recounted how a crucial encounter with Baker led to a swift production of a music video for "stickerz" and, subsequently, an introduction to the wider industry, including his current team at Vydia: "**I needed to shoot a video for “stickerz.” So I was just going about trying to shoot a video, and a lady had hit me, which is Amber. She was like, “Oh, I can help you.” And she helped me find a video pretty fast. And she was also like, “Yo, I manage!” So really finding her helped me find everybody with Vydia. ‘Cause I didn’t know nothing about it. She just put me onto everything. And after that, slowly but surely, I got the team that I have.**".

This turning point was likely when the decision was made to streamline 4Batz's online presence, focusing on a fresh start. His management leveraged TikTok influencers and Instagram theme pages for promotion, a strategic move given the platform's influence. The extent of Amber Baker's influence on 4Batz's artistic development becomes even more apparent when you consider her Pinterest account, **"Amber Ajee'."** Initially public, the account features a collection of photos for inspiration, offering insights into the aesthetic and stylistic directions that have come to define 4Batz's recent works. This connection likely explains the delay in promoting the song "act i," posted in June but only pushed in October.

Amidst the rise, there's been speculation about the legal maneuvering behind 4Batz, particularly the **trademarking** and formation of an **LLC**. Contrary to the belief that such moves signal a major label's puppeteering, these actions were undertaken by **Matt Buser**. Buser, introduced to 4Batz by Amber Baker, played a crucial role in securing 4Batz's intellectual and artistic properties early on.

What about the collaboration with Drake? Given 4Batz's R&B style, which mirrors the sonic landscapes of artists like PND and Brent Faiyaz—both of whom have previously garnered Drake's support and influenced Drake's music immensely—it's clear this partnership was mutually advantageous. For Drake, jumping on a track with the new viral sensation, 4Batz, serves to keep his name in the spotlight, tapping into the fresh wave of listener interest. On the flip side, 4Batz benefits from an exponential surge in hype, further solidifying his position in the music scene.

Fast forward, and 4Batz is now signed with OVO for an EP deal.

What is an industry plant?

A person who a record label is promoting?

Isn't that every recording artist ever? Isn't that the very definition of a record label?

Wether they find a random guy and try to crate a buzz or they find someone with a little buzz and try to amplify it. It's nothing mysterious or sinister. It's just called "the record business"
