A lot of west coast rappers get stuck in label hell at some point and make a living by writing reference tracks for other artists. It's not a coincidence that so many LA/Compton/etc rappers over the last 20 years - Game, Kendrick, Tyga Boogie, etc - have all written for people, and you can often tell who they're writing for. The problem for Game is that he applies that same mindset to writing his own music which is how you constantly get him sounding like Em, Dre, etc etc. It's lame as fukk.

Go listen to Paint The Town Red...it's obvious Kendrick wrote that.
