Blacks didnt invent that "rule"...whites did. Even if you were of 99% European ancestry, whites would still consider you a niqqer slave because of that 1% of African heritage.
So now that black folks have the "ability" to claim another heritage so to speak, why should we? Why shouldnt we be proud to claim a heritage that for centuries the dominant class considered inferior, and which, supposedly, contaminated their "pure white blood"? If you dont understand that, then you have serious issues.

The one drop rule was made to prevent mixed people that could pass for white from receiving white status. The one drop rule was not made for mixed people that look like obama ,but mixed people like blake griffin that could pass for white. A mixed person that looked like obama was either called a Negro or mulatto.

It's amazing how the conversation about race warps depending on the situation. I saw tons of white people calling Zimmerman "Mexican" even though he's half Peruvian and half German, and insisting that Barack Obama was half white even though if he were a nobody he would just be called black. Racists will try to push away people they deem undesirable if they can align them with another ethnicity to make themselves look better and claim credit when it suits them most. I pointed out that for a Peruvian guy, Zimmerman sure got a whole lot of angry, buttmad defense from white people regarding the Trayvon Martin case. Very interesting.

Come on breh. Black people defining themselves causes so much uproar but the white man's worlds still holds more weight today than it did in 1827.We practice hypodescent in this country. That's automatic assignment of people to the "inferior" race. It is an extension of white supremacy and it is practiced today. I don't see how anyone can cry about racism yet endorse this practice. It affects black women negatively in beauty standards and black men negatively in every category of life.

I've said it before. The reason biracial people are more apt to identify as black is because there are societal benefits for them to do so. If you had the choice between being the bottom of your racial group or the top of another it's a pretty easy decision.
