most of that is common knowledge.
black people livin' decent keepin' it real for "the hood" is the only problem.
i lost count of suburban black kids tryin' to live that inner city thug life.
when the last time you hear a white person on some "keepin' it real for the trailer park" they call them trash and keep it moving. If you well off and black...don't seek the hood approval! Brothas catch broke brotha train of thought all day long and end up back in square one.
Like Jay-Z of all people got it right....you need communities of high net-worth blacks so your social space ain't based on "the hood" Jay-Z wants a million more black people with money just like him.
What black people need to understand is that we were a cultured group of individuals BEFORE slavery and we should strive to be that. We had wealth, education, structure, families, etc. Without that understanding, it is perceived that way of living is a white person's thing and it's hard to want to assimilate into a culture of a people that have oppressed you for years...still until this day.
So I understand when someone wants to keep it real or be hood because they've associated that with being "Black culture" and the only thing I can do is to educate someone and let them know that life is not who we are, it's who white people want us to be.
