Have you noticed that no one is really impressed with these consoles anymore? No feature gets people excited or do they really feel the need to predict the potential of a certain function. It wasn't that way when the Wii was in development or the PS3. We spend more time on debating what they won't do (BC) and trying to predict and justify these high ass console prices, the consoles themselves are an after thought, partly do to the companies keeping everything under wraps and partly because most gamers know we have reach the limit of innovation. These next consoles are just more of what we already have.
This is in my opinion the last generation of gaming as we know it, casual gamers have already killed it, the whole "share" button thing from Sony's announcement all but proved that to me. So much time wasted on the media aspects were going to be instead of really showing us what the PS4 was capable of.
I actually think PC gamers will win this generation with that Steam box, no one is paying a G for it but somewhere down the line after a few price drops, hardcore gamers will convert over since I doubt there will be many IPs to keep people on the console landscape.
Used to be a hardcore gamer, but when some heads start talking about graphics and bullshyt games over quality gameplay and original games, I fear for the future.
