I guess my question is how long will people continue to buy dedicated gaming consoles? the casuals have since abandoned both the Wii and Nintendo for tablets and smartphones.
sure we still have the core casual gamer propping up the industry (the kinda gamer that only plays Madden, Call of Duty, NBA 2K, Grand Theft Auto, Halo, ect) but how long is that wave ride-able? When they finally tire of the annual Assassin's Creeds and Call of Duties and move on to another hobby what's gonna be left for the real hardcore gamers when all the casuals abandon gaming?
these companies keep putting out these boxes that lose so much money on hardware its pushed Nintendo to the brink of collapse. Nintendo finally realized they can't keep up in the graphics arm race so they dropped out and adopted other ideas and now they're ultimately shunned and with no casuals to help them its gonna be a really hard road.
honestly i fear for gaming. i feel like its gonna end up cannibalizing itself and die off. the casual gamers are a necessary evil to keep gaming going.
