that shyt puts you in a trance... The scenery, the romantic music... Apollonia's fine ass... It really feels like a paradise \... such a contrast to the wintertime setting in the previous couple scenes. Make no mistake, that contrast was deliberate.

In my opinion it's the most crucial part of Michael's transformation too. He finds paradise, the love of the life, and then its all taken away and he has nothing left.

Bonus: The way Michael stares at Apollonia, when they first meet... he gives her a look of pure power and lust. That shyt wasn't even Michael Corleone, it was Tony Montana :demonic:

Yes. This was the most pivotal part in Godfather where you can see where the rest of Michael's "innocence" is taken and the cold blooded nature is taken place.

Mario Puzo laced it brilliantly because it showcased a person straddling the fence with either keeping his hands clean or loyalty to the Sicilian family business...even though he tried to live an upright citizen (by going in the Army becoming a war hero) and not wanting to be in the "family business"...but realized it was inevitable when he killed Sollozzo the Turk and the police captain McCluskey was where it all started. After the assassination attempt that was meant for him and Apollonia ended up being a casualty it was right there he decided the life that he tried to avoid was predestined...it's in his Sicilian blood.
