Is the casting for Kylo Ren the worst ever?

He was ill, it reminds me of Hayden when people were like "He's too dark and akward and comes off like a psycho instead of a nice guy"

He's supposed to be Darth Vader who the fukk did y'all think he was before he started torturing princesses and blowing up planets

Adam fits who Kylo should be.

They could have taken the kid who plays the gay kid in Shameless and had a better movie.

Driver sucks at acting. Comes off in every fukking show and movie like some wannabe thespian with a slight lisp and fake dramatic angst. There's nothing natural about him.

Hell, a lot of this opinion comes from seeing him fukk up tons of episodes of Girls.

I UNDERSTAND him trying to portray a kid from a broken home.

Y'all act like you all were the only ones who understand a basic fukking plot.

The WAY he did it was cringeworthy. And I'm not budging on that. I believe John Boyegas portrayal of a naive kid WAY more than Adam Driver. Driver is painfully over melodramatic and histrionic. He's literally trying too hard.

Not at all. If you knew the guy as an actor from GIRLS you totally understand the casting. The lumbering physicality, the emotional immaturity, the facade of power in the face of total fear and inferiority complex as well as the need to live up to Vader....nah. You are caught up in dude's face being goofy and not really looking at how he played the character. You are saying he tried to hard....KYLO REN IS THE DEFINITION OF A TRY-HARD.

It was an even better casting that Ridley as Rey (and just as good as Boyega as Finn).

Dude just admit you didn't get it and move on, everyone that watched TFA could see kylo was just a poser who had daddy issues and was emo, a role he played to accurately.. Nothing to see here

the idea of han and leia being neglectful parents and kylo being an emo brat didn't sit well with me at first... but maybe snoke really is that powerful and the crack he's pushing is so potent that one hit will make you want to kill your daddy for it.

guess we'll have to see how it plays out

Yea.....Adam is Kylo. I got used to him by the end of the movie. Even the scene with him talking to Darth's helmet is to show he's a poser trying to live up to his grandfather's reputation. With that helmet on he's a complete bad ass, killing nikkas left and right. Take it off and you see he's just an angry kid that's not really about that life.

Boyega? Great acting. Totally believable. At no point did I feel like I'm in audience when I see him.

Adam Driver though? Whenever I see him on screen I instantly think of how awkward and frail he sounds. It's a shytty casting because it appeals to people who need obvious shyt spelled out for them. There's no nuance. They might as well have put a sign on his back that says "hey I hate my family and I suck at acting so take me seriously as portraying an awkward young man".

It's terrible.

When he took off his helmet I was like . Everyone in the theater reacted with at seeing him without the helmet. I just hope he becomes more heartless and wicked in Episode 8 and 9 and doesn't redeem himself and become good like Darth Vader in ROTJ.
