:dead: name 100 better. :dead:

I knew someone was gonna say that shyt as soon as I posted it, but that would be a waste time I think and you'd just argue every name on it

but when you say "All-Time" that means 100+ years of movies from all over the world, there's a lot of great directors out there.

Definitely not. His entire carreer was geared towards making money rather then making some amazing genre defining films. Look at Spielbergs films and you will notice that none of them really jump out at you as a triumph in the art.

Jaws: ground-breaking blockbuster/suspense horror
Close Encounters
ET: not a movie like this before it came out
Raiders/Indiana Jones: redefined the action hero at the time
Jurrasic: ground breaking blockbuster that boasted new technology at the time
Color Purple: Hood classic
Hook: slept on personal favorite with tha gawd Robin Williams
Schindlers List: Artistic achievement

He's a goat. He aint gotta be THE goat. But he's a goat.

While I'm at it,
Minority Report is damn near a classic
Catch Me if you can was an interesting movie.

....is this a serious statement? Schindler's List is an incredibly powerful film. Minority Report ANNNNNNND E.T. are GOAT level scifi flicks (some would include A.I.). Indiana Jones, and Jurassic Park GOAT level action adventure films. Jaws is a GOAT level thriller, Schindlers list a GOAT level historical film, Saving Private Ryan is a GOAT level military movie. That movie is so fukking INTENSE, I don't know if there is a movie that creates the same shell shocked effect I have after watching that movie. He's got multiple goat contenders in multiple genres. I don't think you can name another director with as many GOAT contenders with the pure versatility of style. We didn't even get to his amazing "second tier" films like Catch me if you can, Close encounters, War of the worlds, Hook, A.I. etc.

here's a list of 40 40 best directors | Features | guardian.co.uk Film
he's #27 on this one TSPDT - The 1,000 Greatest Films (Top 250 Directors)
most of the directors of the films on this list (Jaws only film, at #75) are better than him Sight & Sound 2012 directors top 100 films | BFI

I'm mean there's at least 50 names in those lists that I think are better (not all of them though), at least for me, plus others that aren't in there, he's just not in my top 50,

he's like a pop star who has hits and people love, and has some talent but isn't as talented as the really great musicians

This, i feel since many of his movies were out before alotta us were around, it seems he wasnt as impactful...Jaws was THE FIRST summer blockbuster and started a trend 40 years ago that continues to this day. Hes a top 3 director imo for the entertainment alone his movies bring.
