Emphasis and cosign on the bolded. I root for everyone Black to win. I support Black people getting opportunities and like you said, Black Women and Black LGBTQ deserve to have their stories told and be represented.

I want things like a Black version of Hobo With a Shotgun...or Machete...some no holds barred knuckle up action movie where a Black Man kicks racist white people's asses for two hours. Or some Black horror movies or sci fi movies with strong Black Male and Female leads.

We just cant get that and its frustrating.


I might have to make millions and start my own production studio.

I really think some of us don't understand what it means to see yourself in entertainment. White peoppe rarely question it cause they're overrepresented in the media.

You said you enjoy the NBA and NFL...what about Black men arent into sports though? They almost have nothing to watch with people they can relate to to a tee.

I like sports. Then I realize Im 5'11 185 and not really athletic and there goes that. i cant relate to athletes like that. i respect them...but damn...they a different breed I couldnt be like MJ.

What about Young Black boys that want to be doctors? Or scientists? Or astronauts? Where's the representation in the media for that? Art influences life. Representation matters. When young Black boys and girls see someone that looks like them doing what they want to do, they will be.more likely to do it.

What if you're a young black boy not into sports and all you see is black men in sports?


Young Black Boys see themselves in Rappers and Athletes in the media because these are the few images of Black Male success that are presented and there needs to be more. Unfortunately we aren't there yet and it seems Society has more of a desire to contain and control young black boys instead of nurturing them to become productive black men.

I don't watch sports, i watch sci-fi and various crime/political dramas. that lincoln rhymes crime drama was pretty good. dude who played kerry washington father on Scandal also portrayed a brilliant scientist on a scifi show called Eureka. i've seen too many shows and movies to name them off the top of my head but I do know i've seen some fantastic shows with black leads like Hustle and lovecraft country.
