Yes and no. You don't have to view the content but if you're on Instagram, Facebook, twitter, etc you will be bombarded with content about the upcoming movie. You would have to be completely off of message boards and social media to avoid any possible spoilers or information so you the movie viewing experience would be completely fresh. It doesn't help that studios keep making trailers that pretty much spoil the movie. The prime example being Dawn of Justice. The second trailer released pretty much told the entire movie. Also these entertainment magazines like Empire show to much info. Again prime example being the coverage of Dawn of Justice. We saw Darkseid's logo in the pictures almost two months before the movie was released.

And are studios so pressed to have positive reviews and big opening weekends that they release trailers too far out, trailers to give too much info, and extended scenes?

With YouTube everyone is a critic. Everyone gives thier two cents and you prettying much know everything that's going to happen before you watch the damn movie :mjpls:

Just say the internet in general has ruined it. Back in the day you only saw trailers at the movie theaters, or info about movies on TV or read about them in newspapers and magazines.

I'm on here and social media platforms and I'm able to stay univested in all the hype and spoilers and convo. But then again, I don't really care about movies like that, but overall I enjoy or dislike movies purely from my own experience with them. I used to be into all the hoopla around albums, but that led to the same issue this thread is addressing except with music instead of movies so I stopped discussing then leading up to release, I never check for song snippets and I couldn't give a fukk about leaked track lists and features. Again, this everyone is a critic/needs a platform to yell hyperbole ruins entertainment if you let yourself get immersed in it.

I think the people on social media ruin it, not social media itself. When you are so invested in a topic that you seek others online to chat about it, there's going to be a group-think aspect and it always ends up negatively affecting the vibe in fandoms.

Take Lady Ghostbusters (example) - how many of those downvotes are from regular people who happen to stumble upon the trailer and honestly thought it sucked vs rage nerds who coordinated on social media to hate everything having to do with it on gp, to the point where they wasted valuable life time creating bots to do their downvote bidding? I'm not saying it's a good trailer (it's not) or it will be a good movie (it won't), but instead of it getting released, watched, regulated to shytty reviews and disappearing, the loud in voice/small in numbers social media nerds took it upon themselves to decide ahead of time for the entire world what is an acceptable Ghostbusters movie. Now you've got a bunch of nerds yelling from rooftops at the regular people and letting them know that if they go to see that movie, they are trashbags with no taste. That's attempting to ruin the movie, which is sad because for all we know, Lady Ghostbusters could be the greatest movie of all time (it won't though).

It's not social media's fault. Nerds with too much time on their hands ruining movies has always been a thing, it was just regulated to the backrooms of IMDB or livejournal and a regular person had to go looking for their nerd thoughts. Now they are on twitter and facebook and a regular person that just wants to relive their youth with a Ghostbuster trailer is stuck being bombarded with nerd propaganda and hate if they don't fall in line with the "OMGZZZ THEY'VE RUINED MY FAVORITE MOVIE FOR LIFE BURN IT ALL DOWN" line of thinking.

yeah I think its just STANS have ruined everything and always have. Look at the coli right now, look at the trash threads in here about DC/Marvel. With that being said just dont enter these movie threads or follow the movies so intently anymore. I've made it up in my mind Im not doing for the rest of these cbms like I did for BVS or Civil War with the every day check ups on set leaks/rumors or whatever..............too much pain/ and all these trailers were showing too much. BVS 2nd trailer :francis: and I cant fathom why marvel release multiple 3 min clips 2 weeks before every movie they do :mindblown:. But I cant complain because no one made me click :yeshrug:so I just won't next time brehs....................its gon be hard though :mjcry: next year things really pick up...............If I go against everything I said in this post, know that Im struggling like a fiend:sadcam: brehs

:troll: I'm glad it ruined BvS because it was deserved.

But it also ruined civil war.

I think this level of over exposure really started in the past two years. I barely watched any content prior to MOS. :manny:
