Steroids haven't went anywhere they just test for it but dudes are juiced to the gills if you will.

I think it fell off when they took steroids out of it. Back in the day the wrestlers were huge and seemed larger than life. These new cats just look like regular dudes.

why are people grouping the NWO in as a WWE entity?? they were WCW.

anyway, if youre a serious wrestling fan, we're in the midst of a golden era.
but if youre just a commercialized/casual viewer, then youre out the loop.

as far as commercial & cultural popularity goes, wrestling is nowhwere near where it was in the '50s, 80s & late '90s/early '00s. but the quality of wrestling overall is great with NJPW on a legendary run, and overseas promotions in general becoming more accessible. then you have AEW launching next month(the Jacksonville jaguars' owner & his son's league) which will be big-budget like the old WCW. plus you already have the independent wrestling boom, and the mid-majors(impact, ROH, MLW, lucha undeground) putting on a lot of must-see shows. as far as WWE goes, its not as commercially appealing to casuals as it used to be, but the shows they air on the WWE Network like NXT, 205 live, and NXT UK provide the best consistent in-ring product that the WWE ever had at any point.

so it depends on what type of viewer you are.

I don't know if it is as popular but it certainly isn't as good as it was before Vince took the company public.

wrestling exists outside of the WWE.

some of it is better than the WWE.

No those were very special conditions in the 90s. Although it's still popular it will probably never have that type of mainstream appeal again since I cannot see anyone threating the wwe the way wcw did.

I don't know why people keep saying this.

wrestling's peak in terms of mainstream arguably wasnt even the '90s.

the world has been active a lot longer than we've been around brehs.

When was it more talked about and made more money, more a part of pop culture, had more hours on television in a week?

I think there are as many people watching wrestling overall as ever when you take into account all the people that follow it worldwide

The indies, new japan, mexico and all the promotions in each country like UK, South Africa, etc

It's just not as prominent in mainstream pop culture as it was, but most things arent
