I think Yasser Arafat was bigger in the 90s/early 2000s. Post 9-11 had the U.S. obsessed with radical islam fanatics.

But islam is thousands of years old. We don't know about Islamic leaders and prominent figures because we live in the West; it isn't relevant to our culture.
