Naw not similar at all in popularity or content.

One piece is more comparable on popularity terms. Probably surpassed it by now, it's certainly much better.

Contentwise closest thing is probably 7 deadly sins. OP characters with power levels and all.

If you don't count naruto then it's attack on titan or sword art.

nikkas really think dbz is the end all be all of anime lol

You have to remember, DBZ is the reason people in America started watching anime's heavy in America. The impact of DBZ is why it would be tough for any anime to touch its legacy. I think the only thing that compares is One piece and Naruto ( newer generations). Don't get me wrong DBZ isn't the best one to watch; too many repetitive fight scenes. Sometimes Raditz looks faster then Cell; however it's cultural reasons make the legacy strong. The ending, when Goku says " Til we meet again" :to:. A lot of people felt this way.

Although One Punch man, is one of the best anime's I've seen in awhile. Last Anime I really fell for was Deadman Wonderland. Heard there was no season two :wow:

Maybe as far as popularity in the US goes, but One Piece is murdering every other manga in sales in Japan. There's literally nothing that compares to its popularity there.
Thats what i meant. DBZ popped off heavy in the US and was most kids(like me) first taste of anime. with the series brannching off into toys Clorhing and a shytload of vudeo games its probably the dragonball z for these kids today.

I feel you on the impact but seeing as we're all actually grown I figured we'd admit by now that the series was never really that good :manny:

DBZ is basically the Atari 2600. Was revolutionary in a sense, but it's the most basic formula of its kind and has been surpassed many times over by now

The correct answer is Naruto or One Piece. Attack on Titan however is like the Steph Curry of anime right now though. And when the new season finally drops...:banderas:

To even suggest this shyt shows you don't get the show at all. Even though it ended Naruto is the closest thing IMO.

naruto is the gateway anime just like dragonball was.. they got non-anime folks into anime..

i think attack on titan is the closest to that level right now..

one piece surpassed dragonball a long time ago.
