Im not sure about ducking. Wilder signed a three fight contractual obligation with showtime after the Fury fight. Joshua's camp plays hard ball and there is the fact that AJ is obligated to the DAZN, so it is difficult to negotiate with Wilder right now.
It is much easier fir Wilder to negotiate with the Ortiz camp and Fury camp because those fights were already made before. It got complicated with Fury since he signed with Top Rank and ESPN but apparently it is now signed and sealed for early 2020.
Wilder was ready to fight AJ last year before the Fury fight was made when he didnt have the showtime obligation but Hearn and AJ were playing hard ball with the splits because they didnt view Wilder as a draw to get a better split or come to Vegas to fight him.
Wilder's name recognition and value has really risen this past year with the epic fight with Fury and the epic KO of Breazeale. Plus he is the WBC heavyweight champion, thats the major title just based on history.
Right now leverage wise, Wilder can fairly ask for a 50-50 split with AJ without Hearn or AJ bullshyting him.
Especially if he can beat both Ortiz and Fury in the rematch and take the lineal claim from Fury.
Barring any losses by AJ or Wilder or other shyt like injuries or failed drug tests, AJ vs. Wilder will happen in mid to late 2020 in Vegas when Wilder is contractually free and AJ has no mandatories. I guarantee it.
