Above the fray.
He was bad in the ABA but when Dr J came to 6ers he should’ve deferred more

Those mid to late 70s Sixers teams always come up when people compare assembled talent vs a cohesive team with defined roles. And the importance of the right coach to manage that talent and those egos .

But as a star in his peak, why would GM defer to Doc?

You right. Moses is one of the most disrespected legends

West yea but… That’s what’s crazy about Jokic. He has 3 MVPs and West has 0. It’s hard to view a current player the same as an iconic legend, but really think about it. What does West have over Jokic?

Doc is a hard rate. When he came over he wasn’t dominating like he was in the ABA. And super low key, he might not have been the best player on a lot of his teams. I’m not just talking Moses either. Before that. George McGinnis was averaging 20 and 10 on them teams.

West has 4 defensive 1st team. something joker will never have.

These 2 need to be considered in the top 20.

new heads might not agree because they don't have skills, but that shouldn't be the criteria. it's always about what they've done against their peers. those resume stands out.

And i'm not sure why Drob always get left out in these conversations.

Jokic will eventually have a resume to be in the top 10 conversation, but narratives can change quickly come playoff time.

Yes when someone was almost a four time consecutive MVP that puts them on an all time great tier

Jokic is the perfect example of a guy who is equal or greater than greats of the past who might not have as a many accolades as in championships,MVPS, Allstars, and ALL NBAs especially given how the voting has changed

You know it's funny how a vocal majority of this board did nothing but downplay his ability when he first became a star, and now that he's proven them infinitely wrong, where we're now having discussions on whether he's top-20 OAT or not, yet these same cats are still trying to desperately hang onto some narrative about how he isn't that good, is no greater example of this board not liking hoops.

Y'all don't like hoops.

He's the best of his era and solely from an offensive standpoint, he may go down as the best all-around center ever.

But to answer the question? No. It's too early for him.

There are so many other factors than just MVP and Finals MVP. How about DPOY? All NBA and All Defense selections. All Star Berths, etc

This is the shyt that needs to stop. He’s not playing with bums. How many games has Jamal Murray won for them in the playoffs and been their closer? Dude has scored 50+ a few times. The game in which Joker had the 60pt triple double, Gordon scored 30. MPJ is averaging like 18ppg and was once the #1 ranked player in his class.

THIS.

Denver is a well-built team with a clear alpha surrounded by complementary pieces and rolling with a #2 who has flashed #1 ability several times in key situations. It just so happens that Jokic is so good to where he's assured things like the All-Star game, which is a popularity contest. All-NBA, he has no worries because he's consensus best center in the game despite not having to do much on the defensive end beyond boards.

In general, All-NBA is reserved for #1 options of their team or exceptional #2 players. Somebody like Jamal Murray ain't getting no votes over the likes of Curry, Booker, SGA, Ant-man, Mitchell, a healthy Morant, Tatum, Brunson, Cunningham, etc.

ESPECIALLY now that the All-NBA teams are positionless.
