Get a vacuum cleaner and get all the extra dust from all the vents. If you dont have one, cop a ps3 air cooler, theyre cheap.

Had my phat since launch and it works fine, my slim was freezing and acting up until i got all that dust from up outa there.

There is no point. Systems need to vent, then need a flat surface (hard surface) to vent properly.
If its on a carpet, it won't vent right and will overheat in time. When the ps3 launched, the ps3 faithful swore they could leave them on all night (remember that fukkboiz )
Anywayz, when systems are nearing that time o' death, they may start overheating regardless of the surface its on
I have a laptop that worked fine for years, now that bytch will overheat and cut-off unless I do something similar to this picture
But my point is, if its heating up even on flat surfaces? Then your shyt is on its last legs anyway.
