I have a macbook pro and everything is piff having it EXCEPT the battery swelling up.

Had mine's for three years and the battery life is great, but I'm waiting on a special wrench I ordered to take the battery out and refigure it back in because it swelled up so much being plugged in, it makes it harder to use the trackpad. Scrolling is fine, but Its harder to click onto something since the battery is located directly under the scrollpad :beli:

Its an easy fix but you need to order a special wrench to remove the battery.

I had a powerbook G4 before and I had to buy another battery two years after buying it and I had it plugged in most of the time too.

When I'm home I just remove the battery and keep it plugged in.

Took a week to get used to it, I can't tell you how many times I unplugged it to remove rooms n the shyt just shut off lol

I live in the United States
Alot of computers act differently, and there are many contributions as to why a battery would drain quickly. for example,
Video decoding and rendering in Flash consume a lot of CPU(and flash based apps, whether you know they run on flash or not)
Brightness is a contribution.
and although you claimed her comp to be inactive unless you used it, if still powered on and in sleep mode, thats still a factor for battery loss as well because Newer laptops use lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries.
any startup apps that will run processes as well when not in use, will drain battery.

Just saying :D
I mean.. I'm no professional..:shaq:

My mom is anything but computer literate. She just started surfing the net 1/2yrs ago. Only does it at work. Never in her life put her laptop into sleep mode cuz she woudln't even know what that is
But I hear ya, just sayin from my experiences...

Batteries lose charge time as they get older. But also, you should unplug your shyt when it's fully charged. You run the risk of burning out the transistors on the laptop itself. Then it does'nt matter what charger or battery you get, it won't charge via AC Adapter so then you're screwed out of a laptop and have to pay to get the board replaced or get a new laptop.

This happend to me on like two laptops when I was in college.
