Is Joe Biden lowering expectations for black students by promoting 2 year colleges over 4 year ones?

what's stopping them is an expensive 4 year tuition. Only so many credits can be transfered
For profit colleges are the problem and making CC free isn't a solution, but a feel good talking point to avoid making enemies with high ed elites
You sound like a complete fukking bozo in here. When I went to CC in Michigan, every credit was transferrable to an in-state university. The entire state was setup that way.

The cost of CC is SO much cheaper than four year schools. Those first two years are basically taking gen-ed requirements too so unless you come from money, it does not make any financial sense to go to a four year school over a CC.

And for what it's worth, I had better teachers and better education experience at CC than university. Quite a few classes at university being led by TAs or people with THICK accents from other countries. :snoop:

4year via CC became a thing as the tuition increased. If I needed some education for a job promotion or like you referenced to get a career start, then CC was the solution, not a 4year

If folks are struggling to pay for CC, then they more likely finna struggle to pay the rest of the 4year due to the tuition difference

One thing the article does get right - we need to be doing a much better job of supporting students in 2-year schools and ensuring they graduate.

My dad went to two different community colleges before he eventually graduated from a four-year school, and he said that some of the best instructors he ever had were at the two-year schools. But in terms of counseling and advising and such there wasn't shyt. There needs to be more student support structure.

This is the main issue I have with two-year colleges - there is virtually no advising or support for the students.

You can walk around a CC campus and ask random students who their advisor is - and the majority wouldn't even know their name - because they've never met them. Robust support and proper information would improve the experience of so many students.

CC is the college financial cheat code. Take a couple years to see how you like it for cheap. Probably can even live with your parents. If it works out, go to the big university to finish up and get the flashy degree.

If you end up not liking college, the financial hit isn't that bad. I wish I would have gone this route when I was younger.

I kind of liked when the op pointed out the high graduation rates of expensive private colleges

Not only that but kids may be more likely to work a bit part time in addition to CC
