Jerruh with the Cowboys is like Dolan with the Knicks; they believe they are bigger than the team and create a a negative cloud that hampers success given the levels of expectation and media scrutiny.
The Cowboys have not won a SB, competed in a SB or even reached the NFCCG in almost 30 years....yet the balance sheets show the Cowboys are the most valuable franchise in the league, by a clear margin.
On paper you can say there are defo worse GMs, but given the franchises prominence, the failures are magnified.
The Cowboys will not even get back to the SB until Jerruh is completely hands off....and there's only one way that's happening.

Drafting - the breh Will McClay handles that and it's the ONLY reason they're usually competitive. Not championship worthy but most of the time they're "good."
Everything else - that's Jerral Wayne and Stephen. They enjoy the spotlight for prolonged contract negotiations but forget it costs money if you're just going to sign the guy anyway. This happened 2x just with Dak. They waited and paid a LOT more $$$$.
Jones' are good at the marketing, merch etc., but bad at the football stuff.
Cowboys fans always blame the QB (Romo, Dak), so Jerry pays them enough to take all the heat. Neither QB was/is transformational, but they're good enough to win with if the organization is strong. Sort of like Jared Goff-level guys. Mahomes would have zero rings here. He'd outplay Dak by a mile but the defense would choke (bad game, too many penalties, can't stop the run).

The issue is these guys fall into one or two categories, they relying on old strategies/success, to lead them into thinking they know better, or the people in place that helped are gone or out of touch
