Is it true that Bruce Lee was virtually unknown in America until after his death?

From my understanding Bruce Lee at the time of his death was about as well known as that 'Sons of Anarchy' actor who recently offed himself. Basically "Who?" status.

wait, Half Sack is dead in real life now :ohhh:

What did Way of the dragon do at the U.S box office? (before 73')

Nobody seen that shyt bruh.

Again, dude didn't really blow up in the american publics eyes until he was already dead (Enter the Dragon)

No, you're arguing just to argue, if you read the reviews of the movie at the time, it was pretty fukking obvious that Bruce was one to watch, again unless you were white you weren't blowing up through the regular channels, Bruce Lee was a youth movement, breh essentially built up by word of mouth, there was no internet or anything, someone saw something thought it was dope and passed the word. Like I said before had Bruce Lee lived he would have blown up by Enter the Dragon regardless, just off the strength of his legend as a fighter, his reputation as a Martial Arts instructor (keep in mind he was one of the few Asian dudes that taught non Asians), and as an intellectual, as you were seeing the increasing viability of Eastern thought when it came to health and philosophy and the increasing popularity of martial arts in the 60's and 70's.
