It was just a film to absolve whites of guilt by associating the boy with drugs. *o he had weed, he probably deserved to die*
White folks a trip. They did the same thing with Trayvon. "He would have ended up dead anyways" or "he could have killed my son" smh

Yea thats how they wipe their hands clean and remain complicit in the midst of institutional bigotry, by finding one flaw of the victim they can use to justify a death sentence.

*o he punched his brother in the face? He probably would have grown up to beat someone to death. :manny: *

Subconciously they believe black people are inherently evil so all of our deaths as a people and as individuals can be justified by individual behavior or particular aspects of culture. If all black people were killed tomorrow what do you think theyd say.

*well we freed them and they made that hippity hop gangster music and didnt do anything but talk about killing the white man :manny: *

Decatur where its greater
:wtf:

If you going to the movie and thinking ANY movie based on a true story is 100% you already fukked up. Its a movie is all true story then that probably considered a documentary:heh:. Like dude said they added fluff to humanize Oscar, the same way the media likes to add fluff to dehumanize us. I don't see anything wrong with it. And to those who say the movie was overrated, what more do you want?

It's called Poetic License

It doesn't take away from the brilliant performance by MJ

And y'all act like the movie tried to make his character as some saint. No he was still a nikka in and out of jail that sold weed. Cusses in front of his mother and shyt.

The shyt that you talking about is duck tales is nothing but filler to lead to the event on what the movie is based on. Petty shyt that nobody cares about

Movie is black excellence with a young actor on the rise and of course every time a black star is on the rise the word "overrated" gets thrown around... It's like it's just within our nature

Movie deserves every praise it's getting just on performances alone

:manny: i cant name one movie based on a true story that isnt filled with fake stuff. since a person lives their life off camera, the only things a screenwriter will ever know about a person are objective truths. you cant do a movie about bullet points, you need the in between stuff to give a sense of character and to move the story from scene to scene. also, a movie will be judged on artistic merit, so scenes like the dying dog in fruitvale have to be thrown into biographical or topical movies to depict the messge of the movie in an artistic way.

if you look at the butch and sundance kid movie, they couldnt just do a movie about the facts, you needed to dramaticize their time all the way to bolivia, and the way they died was not accurate; they had them charge out of the house under a hail of gunfire when it is reported that their bodies were found in the house. that was obviously more dramatic, and summed up the type of chemistry they had together

It was an attempt to humanize him. I'm from Oakland, I was around when that stuff went down. Oscar never got a fair shake with the media, he was completely demonized by the media.

This is pretty much it right here...

Even tho I thought they over did it with the "nice, helpful guy" routine.. the director did it because people nit pick everything.. When in reality it was clear.. he had faults but he wasn't necessarily a bad guy at all.

Most biopic movies do this for dramatic effect...
