It's because outside of Emma stone and viola, the people who won last night aren't household names. They haven't done the big movies or I'm Casey's case, he wasn't the star in his biggest movies. Ali is on the come up though
I'd say it's about 50/50. Plenty of actors and actresses have won an Oscar and gone on to have a great career but most of them were already well known before they won.
Money/Oscars shouldn't be (but is.....) an issue to most of these clowns unfortunately. But imHo these actors/actresses should care more about the SAG awards & Peoples Choice awards. Winning shyt like that means your peers & fans respect you, NOT the fckin Oscars where a bunch of nobody corpses vote for you to win a made up award.
Made up committee bullshyt.
I feel like a lot of them feel the need to keep taking on "interresting and complex" roles after an oscar win...it either leads to starring in try hard movies that are grasping too hard at becoming oscar worthy when in reality they're poorly received or they choose a string of movies that the mainstream ain't really paying attention to, thus they keep the Hollywood cache but not relevance amongst the common man.
