College bowl season is one of the great hustles of all time. You basically slap a random companies name on a random ass exhibition game and you are guaranteed all kinds of revenue. :snoop:

Nah the worst part is the schools dont even make money from them. The top/good teams in the conference have to foot the bill for the bowl appearances of the lesser teams in the conference who make bowl games.

Basically the bowl games pay teams for their appearance (~$20million for national championship and $750,000 for godaddy.com bowl for reference). But the schools dont keep that money that money goes to the conference they are in. The conferences take all the bowl earnings of the schools, reimburse all schools for their bowl expenses and then split the remaining among conference members (somewhat proportional to the bowl they went to). Those bowl expenses are ALOT (some schools pay $100,000's in travel expenses for just their BAND alone), schools also have to buy 10,000's of thousands of tickets. With all this into account Florida in 2009 only NETTED $50,000 for their National Championship appearance...

I was referencing the networks, stadiums, and corporate sponsors. The schools and more imporatantly the players are just pawns.

Yea I know that's who you were talking about, I just wanted to elaborate on the fact that although "networks, stadiums, and corporate sponsors" make money, the schools are damn near assed out lol.

I was just about to speak on liking Tyler Russell as a mid to late round QB and then he throws a pick :snoop:

I still like him. Wish they'd open up the O more and wish he'd stop playing it safe so much

There's entirely to much of them at the current time. If it's not a BCS bowl or a team that i'm a fan of i could care less about these meaningless bowl games.

its a great scam and every year fans fall for it as do students and schools

A lot of these schools dont even goto warm weather cities anymore which was the great attraction of these games in the past.

:why: would anyone want to come to DC for a bowl game at RFK stadium in December? I love this area but this is NOT the place to be during the winter.

Man if a player were to come out and say "I'm not playing in the Walmart Bowl so I can focus on my studies. :troll:" He would instantly vault to the top of my all-time list. I wonder what would happen if a guy did that for real? :ohhh:
