.....That Nas loves "hip hop" way more than Jay-Z?

Also that he appreciates and respects his fans more

I mean I get it. They both rich, both GOATED, both battle tested. But in the past decade Nas has released 9 albums. Jay has released 2.

We just talking about passion and love for the sport/culture.

As a fan of rap. What does this mean to you?

While I don’t see it as a negative, Nas is kinda like the flagship artist for Mass Appeal. His last 8 projects have come since he got on board as an investor.

Wether they were contractually obligated or just passion projects, as a big Nas fan a lot of that material, especially the hit boy projects came and went.

I appreciated them, I will check for Nas whenever he drops and even defending him against people saying his output was somehow diminishing his legacy by pointing up how many projects Miles Davis put out.

When Jay was carrying a label and his output was higher before he hit that Dear Summer crescendo, nobody was asking if he loved Hip Hop more.

I think that’s a honest take. The fact that he doesn’t want to drop an album unless he has something important for him to say shows his love for the culture than him dropping more frequently for the sport would.

Going by your logic, I’d hate to see what you feel about Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, and LL.
Rakim is the greatest pre 90s lyricist. But his catalog for the past 30 years is slim at best. And I'm a huge fan, have paid to see him in person recently.

Same with Kane. There are 30 year olds alive today that weren't born the last time he consistently competed.

L.L. is different. His catalog is vast and he was still competitive a decade after his debut.

Jay is more on the L.L. scale.

There was a period when Jay was dropping consistently and Nas was chilling. You don't become as great as Jay at spitting if you don't love hip hop.

Jay pretends to be nonchalant but he cares about hip hop. and I hate Camel :mjlol:

This right here.

Problem is, a lot of supposed Nas "fans" tried to use "I'm a Nas fan" to make themselves look more "Hip Hop", when they were actually casuals and didn't know sh*t about the culture or Nas! They thought by picking a "side" and comparing the MC's content, if they said they rode with Nas, that would make them more certified. It doesn't.

When the fact is, both Nas and Jay love Hip Hop and are both historians of the culture. Nas loves the same luxury and fly sh*t that Jay does, and has rapped about it mad times. And Hov is a die-hard underground head who listens to dudes like Murs and Lord Finesse, and all kinds of obscure MC's all day everyday. Too many overnight and fake fans are trying to find their own identity in who they choose to say they're a fan of, when they don’t know anything about the rappers they swear they love.

Nas gave us Hip Hop 50

He is the culture. He gave 70s rappers a stage at Yankee stadium.. you cant beat that shyt

I think Jay cares a lot more about public perception than Nas.

I wouldn't be surprised if we never get another Jay Z album. He used to bundle his albums to get fake platinum sales.

Now that Billboard has put a stop to that I think he's sacred to drop because he's afraid of what the numbers are gonna look like

Jay don't have too much to talk about at this point.

Jigga Bell Econ 101, Art Deco Hov, Yonce's Man, Street Legend, Rap God, Billionaire, Blue did this and that

What's left?
90% of his contemporaries dont have any topics beyond getting money and fukking hoes. Currensy will likely release 3-4 projects this year that don't go beyond getting fly, getting high and getting some p*ssy.

In todays rap those topics you listed alone are a lifetime worth of material. I don't see the "he has nothing to talk about" angle at all. Even if it were true it isn't exactly a knock in this genre

I don't think a lack of output correlates to a lack of appreciation for your fans. If Jay-Z has nothing to say, what do you want him to do? The man's living his life.

Now he can get a ghostwriter if you want to hear from him that badly. But you would probably bytch about that as well. The guy released an album for like 7 straight summers. That clip wasn't going to hold up forever. And remember there was a huge gap between LIG and Nasir.

Jay out here investing into stuff outside of rap… Rap ain’t his priority like that no more.

He put out 4:44 and yall cats didn’t really appreciate it.

Nas and Jay-Z can put out when they feel like it
