As a marsupial that used to watch the product from time to time (casual, I know), it really seems like the NBA is so in the mud that even the actual organization knows it's down bad.

From the jokes and puns from sports commentators, the highlight reels with some talking head talking about the defense and "threes", and the rose-tinted glasses of the past, is it just all in the mind of the hive of the internet, or it's spread onto the outside world?

It just feels like the argument with most things nowadays from wrestling to video games, where the past>>>>>>>>>>current, despite the fundamental changes that makes such things accessible (in the NBA's case...a focus on better strategy involving the paint and defense, ala threes).

Could somebody, preferably a main sports head human make sense of such madness :dwillhuh:

judging off their media deals, they will be fine. but they are in a transitional period. Often times when a crop of superstars age out of the league people wonder who is going to be next to carry the torch. Eventually somebody always ends up doing it. Problem is the league is more international now, and people are clinging to the idea that the next torch bearer has to be american. But that might not be the case

it's dying. you need like 10 different platforms to watch a team play, the tactics are "shoot 3s", and the number of commercial breaks is fukking annoying.

the purest basketball we got last year was at the olympics.

That's why I gave up on my damns of trying to follow the NBA, along with sports in general. So many corners, streams, and overwhelming changes to the product like :mindblown: .

How in the hell you charge heads 15 dollars a month to watch the NBA, only to have half of the fukking games on blackout and exclusive to network deals :why:

Reminds me of how Bare Knuckle FC had a app for a reasonable price, and decided to do the PPV thing (no harm no foul). And suddenly they are doing the DAZN events like WTF :mindblown: .

The NBA isn't dying, they just signed a record media deal.
We will see players making $100 Million a season in a few years.
There needs to be tweaks, but people are just averse to change and are nostalgic about things of the past.

Yeah I'm starting to see the wankfest of the past. As most of those games of that era aged like wine, the fact alone is that most of those games felt like combat sports :francis: . Thus why most of the players had career threatening injuries, and the current players can just sit out a few games due to a snubbed toe.

Passion is essential, but working smarter is forever.

Yeah.

Sure.

The NBA is dying.
Jayson Tatum just signed for 60 fukkin million dollars a year, but the NBA is dying.

This board is gathering the biggest concentration of fukking idiots on the internet.

Don't shoot the OP :whoa: , I'm just gathering what the internet is saying since it's always doom and gloom about the littlest of things.

It’s boring as fukk right now…

Don’t think I watched a full game all season… :francis:

Copped 2k25 and only played that shiit twice. Is the lack of rivalries and the lack of superstars with an impact that are affecting the game. The stars they are trying to push to the forefront either have no personality or terrible media training like Anthony Edwards.

No...but ratings and interest is down. It's fun watching Steph shoot threes but it's not fun watching everyone else do it. Also there isn't an American superstar that's interesting or doing anything new. Zion brought a lot of excitement back but it didn't last.
