Hell no. Wrestling was big before Hogan and after. When I went to Halloween Havoc 95, The Shiek came out with Sabu and got the pop of the night while Hulk got completely shyt on. There was large groups of fans that never gave a fukk about Hulk Hogan, regardless of Vince push and the territories he killed.

I’d say Stone Cold is the Michael Jordan cause he made WWF the shyt that everyone had to watch. Not just kids but grown men too.

Also they are both six time champs :troll:

He also helped kill two rising companies because of his ego and politics.

I’d say Austin is MJ for anyone over the age of 12.

If MJ at age 25 played today, he’d be a dominant player and still be MJ. Hogan at 25 would’ve gotten laughed out of the business and couldn’t hang. He was a product of his time. The Rock at 25 absolutely could. That’s why he’s the biggest movie star today

Hogan only seemed bigger than Flair because WWF was more mainstream

But Flair was light years beyond Hogan

Not for nothing Zeus (Deebo) played a huge role in Hogan being seen as indestructible quiet as kept

I love this revisionist history. Cats that didn't grow up on Hogan and only saw him in WCW and recent WWE cannot imagine how huge Hogan was. Dude had a monster run where he was making the company so much more money than anyone else in the business - from merch to live gates to exposure. Austin and Rock killed it for sure, but the media atmosphere was different as well in terms of access, outlets, places to sell merch, etc.

Austin and Rock had basically 3 year runs... Hogan had 2 different peaks with 80s/early 90s WWF and 97-98 NWO.
MJ and Gretzky were able to be champions, the best players, carry their sport, and be household names during their runs. IDK that there's a wrestler that fits the mold.

Basketball and hockey are meritocracies. How do you think young Terry Bollea would fare in the performance center today?

I think he'd do as well as a Stroman would. Charisma off the charts tho. Austin is the only cat that fits the bill of hitting on every single cyclinder - workrate, media exposure, sales, household name. Just didn't have a long run by any stretch

I’d honestly say he, Flair and Macho Man are Bird, Magic and IT while Austin or The Rock (YMMV on who better fits) are Jordan
