HOAs are a pain in the ass until you don't have one and you have a shytty neighbor leaving a broken washer and dryer in the front lawn, old ass car that doesn't work, grass is brown and unmanicured....there's pros and cons.

A HOA would have got this muhfukka out the paint the second the first ladder was out there.

Exactly.

HOA in buildings ensures common areas are kept up
HOA in subdivisions ensures every property maintains its value.

It depends who is involved...there are more community style HOAs that you pay affordable price and get what you want, There are Big Conglomerate that controls your HOA, you get rarely anything and pay alot for nothing.

Unfortunately I have a shytty HOA

Mortgage on a 2/2 condo: $1300
HOA: $700/Mo.

Yup, makes total sense.

Ask anyone in Florida/California what they think about HOAs.
If that condo cant rent for more than $2k/mo on the open market then you played yourself already. People dont know what they are doing half the time anyway. Just may not have been a good deal.

nikkas pay $300 a month to make sure everyone keeps their grass cut and parks their car the right direction :mjlol:

Pay more money to pay more in property tax every years brehs :russ:
HOA fees pay for your amenities and things you would have to pay for regardless like insurance, garbage pickup and sometimes utilities or taxes. Just depends. Sometimes its a ripoff. Other times, its actually a good deal.

It depends on where you are and how well it’s run.

HOAs are useful for keeping a neighborhood clean, relatively well maintained and safe. And the rules in the condo docs end up settling disputes that would normally go to court.

My parents own an apartment in Florida that has a HOA and we hate it.
Have to go to their office to get a permission slip to allow friends to park in our parking spot.
Just so we can rent it to someone else , we have to go through many hoops like having a 725 credit score. i rather lower it to 700.
we pay like 450 a month for it , and if we are late by 2-3 days on the payment...they charge a $500 late fee.
Those are the stupid rules that i know of , there's probably more.

That was just an example of the current situation.. however, can you expand on this? I'm not talking about rental properties here, just a spot to live in.

There are pros and cons to HOAs. But, let's be clear..

Not all HOAs are expensive. I saw a home about 2 miles north of me painted their house Burnt orange. shyt like that is the reason HOAs exist.

The house across the street from me used to be salmon pink. And that was the color they chose! It wasn’t already like that.

:hhh:

The new owners painted it beige and white.

:blessed:

There are definitely Pros & Cons with HOA’s depending on where you live. However, I would say they serve a good purpose overall.

In Atlanta I would say it is worth it. The HOA in my neighborhood is $900 annually. That goes towards maintaining the following:
- Common area maintenance (10 areas throughout neighborhood - general lawn care)
- Pool
- Tennis courts
- Clubhouse
- Entrance security cameras
- Pest control
- Termite treatment
- Reserve fund

More importantly, the HOA restricts the number of homes that can be rented, doesn’t allow Airbnb rentals and ensures that the architectural standards are maintained. This all goes a long way to protect hone values. We definitely would never have a home painted salmon pink like a poster above mentioned (which could turn off potential buyers) and the community always looks presentable.

$900 annually/$75 monthly cor that is well worth it in my opinion.

y’all really be upset at what color someone chooses to paint THEIR house?! :dahell:

Hell yeah

Imagine trying to sell your house and when people come look at it they see a lime green house to the left and pink and purple house to the right, and a purple house across the street. they not gon even get out their car to look at your house.

Lol I served on the board of my HOA in my old neighborhood. It was a mufukka that was a hoarder, had a big ass propane tank on his deck and didn't have power in his townhouse. Crazy mufukka....the fire department went in his crib to do a welfare check, and said they knew he was in there but it was too much clutter and couldn't tell exactly where he was. Mufukkas ran out shook :merchant:

From my perspective, good/non-intrusive HOAs are a good thing. Pay a couple dollars a month for trash, snow removal, maintenance of common areas, keeping a standard for the community (no trashy houses/yards). Last thing I need is mufukkas messing up my resell value. fukk that

:hhh:

Not because you care but because it's really hideous and looks like something out a 3rd world country.

Mary Sue Ellen from the HOA who ain't got shyt to do would slide up the second Señor pulled the paint can out like:

 "don't even think about it Ese"

You see where i said i have a house with no neighbors on 5 acres? Yeah...i sont like neighbors, so other people dont have any effect on my property value. I dont have those problems
What state u in? With 5 acres u can grow all types of food. Farm. Damn. Hopefully you’re not letting all that space go to waste.
