disagree, sounds hard as fukk to me. never tried mind you, but when i listen to EDM I'm like "that mixing tho!"

i mean, it's pretty basic (and formulaic) in terms of chords and structure and shyt. getting the sounds right is the big hurdle for me.

personally, i think the hardest part is sound design, which i'm not that good at cuz 1)i'm not super knowledgeable about synthesis to begin with and 2)i'll end up spending so much time trying to create some cool new sound that i'll get lost in that side of things and totally lose the idea for the beat. i guess that partially relates to point 1 though, cuz if i knew how to quickly create what i'm hearing in my head i wouldn't get so far off track. also having alot automation and stuff going on to keep that simple melody/chord progression/bassline morphing and stay interesting is tougher than it seems too.

I hate to argue semantics but Hip Hop IS "EDM".
I have no idea why or when it was booted out of the classification
but the genre fits it pretty precisely.

Agreed. It's more about being a student of your beatmaking program.

:rudy: since when would you regard j.dilla and 9th wonder as edm. maybe trap and drill but not boom bap and jazz/funk type hip-hop

It's "EDM" because it's quite literally electronic music, the fact the j. dilla/9th wonder types sample from records doesn't mean it isn't "Electronic", that much should be obvious.
Not to mention sampling Jazz/Funk also happens in other forms of EDM like House music.

the reality is hip hop is just as commercialized as edm for the most part. the parts where youll find good money, its all formulaic your in or your out type stuff. aka if you dont meet mainstream standards you wont find success here

i wouldnt say its a sell out move unless you genuinely dont enjoy making edm music. i think youve only sold out when you make music you dont fukk with

True...people act like Hip-hop isn't a close cousin of electronica and dance and house and techno and all of dat...

Yeah a lot of EDM is unlicensed remixes. That's just one example a lot of times there are no lyrics and its just the beat.
Props for the triple six even better although what they did to it..... eessh So unless it's original production producers aren't eating off these remixes just the ones performing as DJ's?
