never heard the album cuts and no one around me has ever played them. so I'm thinking 'nah'.

I remember being surprised that Black Album outsold Beg For Mercy first week. They were competing against each other from what I remember. Or was it the other way round? :jbhmm:

My first word was classic! I just said it's not a 5/5 but I still think it's a classic for its impact in my opinion but otherwise I'd probably rate it like hfm, documentary or straight outta cashville as a solid 4/5

yeah. I was a bigger 50 fan than I was Jay at that time. 50 was dominating everything. Jay-Z was coming off Blueprint 2, which was trash. Then his first single is "Change Clothes", which was super trash.

My point is, I didn't expect Black Album to be anything special. It's not until 99 Problems dropped that I decided to check the album out. When I heard it, then it made sense.
