Is Dip (Wilt Chamberlain) the most athletic human of that size of all time?

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
Have you seen Sabonis play, in his PRIME! I'm not talking about the Sabonis you saw in Portland who was past prime. How many players his size you do the things he did at 7'3, let alone 6'10.

Arvydas Sabonis-Before Injuries 1986 - YouTube

Here's a guy that was 7"4 and more athletic than Sabonis, and I still wouldn't say he was more athletic than Wilt or Shaq.

7"4 and he wanted to be a small forward.....

He didn't grow much after HS height wise, and he's not flat footed either.

Where are u getting this "he didn't grow much after high school" from? 6-11.5 to 7-1.06 is over an inch and a half - that's significant. Also he is definitely flat footed in that pic. The pic actually comes from a multi-page spread in 1954 that showed all the tallest high school basketball players in the country at that time and every one of them was positioned standing flat footed not on their toes - the angle is deceptive

Also, a players max standing reach is measured with one hand not two - this gives u greater reach. For a guy who likes vintage NBA and has a "formerly Wilt Chamberlain" avi why are u so ready to discard Wilt's measurements? As one of the premier "physical specimens" in recorded history, the dude had tape measures all over him from high school to the NBA. Unlike a lot of players from his era his measurements are actually readily available and well documented if u know where to look. yah there is a lot of bogus info out there, but I've filtered through such info. His reach was almost certainly the oft-stated 9-6.

1954, he's called 7 foot 1 there and he's 17, and he is not flat footed in that picture my dude.

Just because I like vintage NBA doesn't mean I'm going to believe everything I read. I respect his game and think he would be dominant today, and would be the best center in the league by a huge margin. I just find it hard to believe he had a 9"7 standing reach when I see guys with those reaches and they can do something he cannot.

In 1954 people also called him 9 feet tall my dude. Watch the video link I posted early where Wilt (His senior year at Overbrook) specifically clarifies his actual height when asked what it was in during an interview because the interviewer notes how inconsistent his height is when people talk about him. Wilt says: "I'm exactly 6-11.5 in my stocking feet". Heck I've even got more video interviews of Wilt where he talks about High School and says "I was 6-11 at the time"... As for the source you post for his "7-1" height? To give u an idea of how much homework the reporters had done, that video says Wilt held the state shot put record, totally false - he never held the state shot put record. In fact his primary focus was (always) the high jump. What that video is is a classic example of just another sensationalist story - not one that is specifically addressing Wilt's measurements, not one that is loaded with facts and research. Sources like Wilt's own words, or well written sports articles from that time that specificly point out details that required actual in depth research of stats or measurements >>>> sources than weekly theater newstory fluff content like that video

And I don't blame you, don't believe everything you read because not everything is accurate (There is one article I came accross that said Wilt had a 101" wingspan - clearly between 3 other articles and the video in my OP consisently stating 91-92 inches the 101 inches isn't true). If you haven't seen enough content your radar is going to be off. Sources like your video are going to throw your whole perception off. Doesn't sound like you have access to the same kind of articles and content I have from back then (ones that contain measurements and such). I'll post more materials in a bit - if it don't convince you then fine but its better that u see these sources than go by nothing but videos and pictures like what u posted above.

My nikka, you're posting clips from home videos from row 13 section 201 of a preseason game between the Sixers and Nationals, of course I don't have access to the same stuff as you :russ:

I wouldn't be shocked if he had a 9"6 reach, or a 7"8 wingspan, it's just hard to believe, I'm skeptical but if there's hard data out there that says it's true then I won't argue.

Lot of whiteboys in that 73 All Star game......The East was full of them. The East starting lineup = 4 white guys and 1 black while the West was the opposite.

The wingspan and reach numbers seem way off, this is not a 9"7 reach -

Even if it isn't it's still impressive.
