I saw it in theaters in 1999, I was 13, and shark movies, and Remy Harlin coming off The Long Kiss Goodnight, this was a big summer movie, in a season full of them, including The Haunting, Eyes Wide Shut, Austin Powers 2, The Sixth Sense, The Blair Witch Project, The Mummy, Big Daddy, almost all I saw in theaters.

It was fun in theaters, a slick thriller, that barely held water, with some sleek set design and absurdly done special effects. As pure entertainment, you could so a lot worse than a quick watch of Deep Blue Sea during the long summer weeks of August.
