Not so sure about that. Confidence is important, but when it comes to the elite level players (Kobe, LeBron) or even those on the immediate tier below (Chris Paul, Dirk) confidence isn't gonna put you on that level. JR Smith is prolly one of the most confident players in the league but he is never gonna be on Kobe/Wade's level
Confience does have to come with discipline
If there's a :14 on the clock and we takin' it full court, I can be as confident as Jordan, but, I'm not hoising it 60 ft. because I've made it in shootarounds
You bring up Lebron
A lack of confidence makes it hard to get passed a 60 yr Jason Kidd, in the Finals (7 ft away from the basket), when u could just post him up or run him over
I tend to agree with analyst who believe his friendship with KD made the Finals less stressful for him, thus raisin' his confidence
Not sayin' my confience will allow me to drop 25 on 10 shots in a NBA game
Confidence can effect the entire way u train
"Nah, I'm straight with 500 shots a night...I mean, I ain't Kobe. Coach just need a good 10 minutes outta me a night"
Confidence (and arrogance) makes a Kobe not want to play next to the MDE, because he thinks he can do it alone. A lack of leaves you in tears because of a old Michael Jordan yellin' at u.
