Has there ever been a pitcher with a bigger discrepancy between his regular season and playoff ERA

Mattingly should have pulled him his first start though after he gave up those first 2 singles...

I can't take up for last year, but Mattingly damn near made Ned look like a genius manager compared to him. He should've been pulled tonight too. You throw him out on short rest & expect the man to come through when pitch count is over 100 & every pitch is left up. I won't even get into the Puig matter. Ugh.

-there's a rather big difference in play in the playoffs compared to the regular season, in part due to the looser rules in regards to physicality. This makes it hard to go in without having a great supporting cast. Flacco, Eli, Wilson aren't all elite or legendary QBs because they won, all they three won with their defenses playing great and solid RBs. Peyton hasn't had many seasons with both of those things.

-you really don't realize how much football is a team sport, do you? In 2013 when the Broncos lost to the Ravens they still managed to put 35 points up(with some great returns). Is it on Peyton that the team gave up 38 points? That Raheem Moore allowed a 70 yard touchdown in the last minute?

-sounds like Peyton has been to the playoffs a lot more than most players too.

That's not really that bad. Brady's is 8-7 in the last decade, are you going to say that's awful too? Peyton has three superbowl trips, it's not like he's never gone deep in the playoffs. Dan Marino has no ring, mostly because he had a god awful supporting cast that couldn't do their share come playoff time. Does that really make him a less of legend?

Brady is 2-2 against Peyton, including Peyton being 2-1 against him in AFC championship games. Except this means fukk all because it's the Broncos vs. Patriots and Colts vs. Pats, not Peyton vs. Brady. And Peyton has had one game against Brees in the playoffs. One game is hardly something to go by.

-the colts have always had an above average pass rush with freeney and mathis, and didnt bob sanders win defensive MVP one year in that backfield?? Lets not sit here and act like their defense was shyt, it wasnt elite, but it was far from shytty

-:ufdup:You picked the wrong game to back your argument Sir. You are correct, it's not Peyton's fault to allow BAL to score 38, but that INT thrown in OT to put BAL to win the game winning FG was Peyton's fault :sas2:

-Just because he has been to the playoffs does not mean he should have more losses than everyone else, that's terrible logic to fall back on

-Yes brady is 8-7, that's over .500 still better than Peyton's. And Brees and Peyton's matchup is hardly something, it was the SUPER BOWL. Did brees throw a pick six that game, because I distinctly remember Peyton throwing one to close the game out??

I know hindsight is 20/20 and all, but i would have probably pulled kershaw after he put 1 on, certainly after he put the second on.

He choked last season in the playoffs and he choked in game 1 of this years series with the Cardinals but I'll give him a pass for today's game. The Dodgers just weren't hitting let alone scoring runs.

Kershaw blew the lead in game one.. They were up 6-2 before the 7th inning..

People calling Peyton a choker must have some brain damage. praying for you nikkas.

Go look at the teams that Peyton took to the Superbowl. They werent superbowl caliber teams and the one year they won, 2006, the colts defense stepped the fukk up in the playoffs though, that shyt was the reason we won. Defense and linemen win superbowls, you nikkas sipping on your koolaid thinking that an elite QB can get it done without them.

But let's take a look:

Rodgers-one superbowl, the one year their defense played well and did their part. Elite offense every other year, but little playoff success because of the terrible defense.

Brady- hasn't done shyt since that spygate incident

Brees: one superbowl, the year they had the most turnovers in the league and probably their best overall year in terms of talent on both sides of the ball(last year they definitely overachieved with a softer schedule).

Come on brahs, lets here the choker arguments for all of them.
Fixed that for you Breh

The playoffs are random we can't expect Kershaw to pitch well all the time.

It's hard to judge the real goodness of Kershaw cause clearly baseball offensive numbers are down and it's benefited pitchers tremendously. We have a bunch of pitchers who were meh at best suddenly pitching to competent eras and high win totals . Bring back hgh brehs

The biggest problem with Kershaw is that he is pitching against horrible offenses every other start...

There was a thread about Kershaw vs Felix...and when I broke down the numbers...at that point in time Kershaw had around 60% of his starts against the bottom 10 offenses in baseball....so everyone is so enamored with his stats...but he is pitching against teams with bad to atrocious offenses for around half his starts, so of course his numbers are going to look good...

So yeah...when he plays a team with some at least decent bats...which he will in the playoffs...expect his era to sky rocket...

There is no hump for him to get over...this is who he is...

Which is why you got to be real careful with his innings in a playoff game
