What are they supposed to adress you as?Breh" ?! Lol
I get that but it’s over used. It’s like they ALL use it. ALL the time.
I show respect to my elders black or white but when it’s a 60 year old man or a 53 year old woman it’s hits wrong.
Them mfs know what they doing. :wtb:

This is like the opposite of how many white women resent being called "mam" by store associates when shopping etc. Makes them feel old.lol

i want to say yes but it depends on person environment and how they say it
a yes example
when i was at an intership and we were all saying bye on the last day the guy shaking hands said bye to everyone normally but the minute he got to me he said bye brother :smugbiden:
i was like this cac here in my head :skip:

a no example

in hawaii everyone actually says brother normally like it's nothing. I'm serious
it actually took me a minute to adjust until I saw them doing it to cacs too.

Man is another hot word

Nah..

You gotta consider & nuance to how it is used and who is using it towards you. Also, you should be able to feel a person out which will give you an indication of their intentions. If you don't interact with them much, then you may be suspicious, but a lot of times, some of them will use it because they are attempting to be respectful and not be offensive.

Lastly, please don't get caught up worrying about non-Black people's intentions when they converse with you.

I mean, when I interact with other non-Blacks working at a store and they call me boss, I don't get fake outraged and call them out. Were they intentionally trying to offend? I say no or I give them the benefit of the doubt. However, if the intonation is janky, then there may be an issue..

I say relax a lil and assess the whole situation before rendering a decision on their intent..

Yeah when I was working retail I used to get those from older white men sometimes but one that really seems :mjpls: :mjpls: to me is "dog" . I remember a couple times them being like
"What up dog" or "Where can i find xyz at dog" and it just always rubbed me wrong because nobody talks like that or atleast hasn't in like 30 years
