Its not a scam but there are more effective ways to spend your money.
if you’re buying regional water (ala Poland Spring, etc) you might as well cop a brita filter and call it even.

maybe if they lie about the origin of the bottled water and it ain't mountain springs that could be a scam but you buying into a name or brand isn't a scam

Thems folks probably don't know any better. I can absolutely tell the difference between city, purified, and filtered.
And like someone said, it depends on the city. That city might have good high quality water
That's your opinion, which you're right to have but that doesn't make it a scam. The scam would be bottled water companies selling "spring" or "purified" water that's just tap water. Tap water is disgusting but it ain't a scam. Most purified water companies are scams tho

when i moved this summer, i started buying bottled because the water from the tap was

Never tried it though since I only drink tap water these days.
Would rather drink soda or juice when out and about and get thirsty.
