To be an actor/actress? HELL NO! you don't need to be attractive. There are roles out there for pretty much ANY type of person.
But if you're talking about A-list Hollywood STARS, then, yeah, you're gonna be hard pressed to find any that aren't considered very attractive by the average man/woman.
Either that or be funny as all fukk.

I think male actors can be average to below average looking a lot easier than female actors. Unless your incredibly talented as a female actor or hot you probably won't get the part. There seems to be more leeway with their male counterparts though.

Not necessairly but you gotta have a good storyline and concept if not. But if you wanna sell to younger audiences they may put attractive men and women in there.
