Brehs I’m about to get my developer cert should I go ahead and knock out solutions architect as well? I’m new to tech but I’m basically focusing on getting these cloud certs and learning python.

I passed the cloud practitioner with Andrew browns exampro and I copped the entire associate bundle for 50 bucks I highly recommend him. The sample exams he has was basically what the real thing was for me.

See that video I posted earlier. It's not mandatory but it's always better to get the SAA first. Nothing is set in stone.

I’m 8 AWS certs in right now, and this is the best path in my experience.….

Starting from scratch with minimum IT experience, then cloud practitioner is probably the first step.

If you have decent experience in IT, even if it’s all on prem skip that one. It holds almost no weight on the job market.

1. Solutions Architect Associate - it’s all concept based and use cases. You literally could have no clue how to configure a single service and still get this one. It’s a lot of memory but it’s a resume builder.

2. I would skip Sysop admin and developer unless you are just collecting certs. Focus on SA Pro next. It builds off associate and it’s the same use case based concept. The only difference is the questions are much longer, harder to read, and there may be multiple “correct” answers.

3. DevOps Engineer is next IMO. It’s almost the same study path as developer, except the questions have the same structure as SA Pro. If you are going to study CICD, containers, and serverless just go straight for this one and don’t bother with developer.

4. Specialty Certs. These aren’t very necessary imo but by now you have studied almost 75% of the material on most of these so it doesn’t hurt to get them while it’s still somewhat fresh in your mind. Security is the easiest one, followed by DB. It’s a little more on the configuration side than the SA certs but it’s not that bad.

As for prep I would use Adrian Cantrills video series and tutorial dojo practice tests. That’s literally all you need. You can probably get them all without ever actually logging into an AWS account

Breh thanks so much for this advice, I’m starting from scratch and got the practitioner cert. Working on solutions architect right now I’m wondering if I should get developer as well since the materials will be mostly similar and it will be fresh in my mind or do I go pro?

Is it smart job wise to just stack these certs to make me stand out? Appreciate the advice breh

I would go straight to pro and then focus on dev ops pro. The 2 pro certs carry more weight than all the other certs combined.

I've released a new FREE course today .. Technical Fundamentals ( Tech Fundamentals ). I keep hearing about students who are struggling in interviews, on the job or while learning other topics (including the awesome boot camp being run by Andrew Brown). I want to help people as much as I can so ... all my fundamentals content is now in one place and available for free.

Some details below on the course but I need your help to spread the word, so if you can 1) like this post, 2) share it to your linked in network 3) if you have used any of the content comment and let people know what you think 4) share the link on your social networks or any chat groups you're in or with your work colleagues. Everything helps, and i want everyone to have access to this free stuff

The course includes lessons on :

🧠 The OSI 7-Layer Model
🧠 Network Address Translation
🧠 DDOS Attacks
🧠 VLANS, Trunks, QinQ
🧠 Binary <=> Decimal Maths
🧠 SSL / TLS
🧠 Border Gateway Protocol
🧠 Jumbo Frames
🧠 Stateless vs Stateful Firewalls
🧠 Layer 7 Firewalls
🧠 IP Sec VPN Fundamentals
🧠 Encryption (including envelope)
🧠 HSMs
🧠 Hashing & Digital Signatures
🧠 DNS & DNSSEC
🧠 Containers
🧠 .. and more

The course will also be updated constantly, so if you have any topics you want included .. comment below and like/share and i'll make a list and get to work.

Once again, please help me spread the word on this one. The more people have access to good fundamental content - the more we raise the baseline for the industry.

After much thought, the SAA-SAP-DOP is the best course to take, similar to what @klientel said and this video (8:37 onwards is the best part of the video). I spoke to a few folks who are Cloud/Platform Engineers so that's the route I'm gonna take now for sure. I'll be focusing more on linux and kubernetes too rather than using that time for the Associates despite what I said earlier, but more importantly focusing on the job skills before taking the exams.

I work in a soc, about half of these motherfukkers have an aws cert but none of these fools could investigate an aws detection without me or one of the other engineers walking them through it.

These certs are a waster unless y have lab 3xperience

AWS doing a free exam retake offer:

Bruh… so things have changed drastically since i made this thread.

I still want my AWS and still plan on getting it, but I think I might have to attempt to cram for the ccna first. Things are changing in my current position and I think I’m gonna be looking for a new job soon (I kinda want to take like a month to regroup though before trying to go hunting).

Basically I’m moving back to the states sooner than I anticipated in my original plan.

In that time I want to focus on ccna and get that out the way if possible.

But, I think thats still useful for AWS. I honestly just want to get into cloud but networking as well. I might be moving from overseas too so I really need to focus on one thing and from discussing it with my mom (who has CCNA) this route opens every door that I have been currently trying to sneak in the window for

I have been studying aws though. If it’s like what ive been studying then I like it

But free retakes are hard to pass up
