It's funny, a friend just asked me if SmackDown has improved and it absolutely has. EXCEPT when it comes to titles. His reign IS refreshingly fukkery free. It's technically "good", but its so lackluster because WWE can't help but treat SDL like its the B show. With Brock MIA, AJ should have been closing shows and have had his matches heavily promoted. But he's just kinda...there. Compound that with WWE having tremendous trouble booking faces right and here we are. So no, I don't think AJ is boring. But WWE comes across with uninspired in making his run feel significant.

Naah, he's not a boring champ, he's just not a champ that should be holdin' it for damn near a year at a time.

If they wanna push him as the face of SD (the house AJ Styles Built), they could at least break these title reigns up a bit. Having him hold it for a year straight with no breaks doesn't help him.

I can’t even remember the last good title run someone had. Goes to show how shytty the writing and booking is.

Even though JBL was a huge dikkhead, his title reign was probably one of my favorites looking back. Every week I wanted a wrestler to kill him because his tactics made you feel how much of a scumbag he truly was. It kills me how much the WWE puts so much energy into a heels title run, while the faces continue to look like dorks. Even during it's peak, I always hated how the WWE would book faces as champs with the exception of the Attitude Era since everybody was a heel :heh:. Why is it so hard to make a face be the equivalent of a Ricky Steamboat (fighting for my family champ), Dusty Rhodes (fighting for the people champ), and even a Eddie Guerrero (a face with heel tactics champ)

What WWE should have done during the entire Brock run as Universal Champion is to have had AJ Style and the WWE Championship been booked as the main event of all WWE ppvs and get all of the attention and importance on them.... this would be the thing that would trigger guys like Roman, KO, Braun and Seth on Raw to be upset since Brock's hostage of the Universal Championship is denying them the chance and/or right to be in big time ppv main events which would be the catalyst of Roman's new gimmick of "Brock ain't here to work but I am" which he has done as of late.

Then storyline wise and booking wise you could have guys from Raw wanting to jump ship to Smackdown so they can get a crack at the WWE Championship. They could be having a lot of "Loser Leaves The Brand" matches and interbrand promotional matches and etc. Then you could have guys all gun after the Intercontinental Championship declairing "fukk Brock! This IC Title is the TOP title on Raw and will be honored and defended as such" having the IC Title being the constant main events on Raw bringing importance to that title like during Seth's run with it.

Many things WWE could do to make their championships have more prestige but they don't care.

Stop trying to make it good:wow:

Its WWE's fault for putting their main title on the B-show and treating as lesser than the title they just made up a few years ago and not having it main event PPVs.

OH BUT YOU DIDNT KNOW!!!:ooh:

After that new FOX deal... Smackdown about to become the A SHOW.

If he can last as champ till then things are about to pick up:whew:

Hopefully:usure:

I lost a lot of interest in him after the hall of fame. I have a hard time backing up racist redneck Republicans. :yeshrug:

I think he's been solid and none of the lackluster stuff is his fault..... Its more of a fault of the company he works for and they way they book and present their product so you cant put this on him.

Back in the day and in other places the champ is the face of the company and in some cases the champ IS the brand.

Over here..... the company is the brand and the machine and everyone is exchangeable pieces to the machine. I mean they make it very clear that NO ONE IS BIGGER THAN THE WWE.

Yes, he is a boring champion.

He’s an elite in-ring performer, but his mic work is trash, and he doesn’t look like a star. I laughed when I saw the Yankee Stadium photo shoot WWE just posted on YouTube. The WWE champion was the smallest guy there.

His title run is refreshing, there’s been LESS bullshyt than most other long title runs. It reminds me of Bret Hart ‘fighting champion’ title reign in 92-93.

Bret’s 92/93 reign is the worst attended reign in the modern WWF/WWE history (2,860).

Styles’ run is objectively drawing fewer eyes to the product than Jinder, who everyone — rightfully — deemed a huge failure.

It may not have (entirely) been each of their faults, but it’s a good comp... albeit not for the reasons you intended.

That’s literally impossible for that statistic to be true. Whatever told you that Bret Hart drew worse than JBL is a fake stat and you should question the source.
