Yeah..ton of fun child friendly games on it. Plus there's no hinge, which is the most likely part for a kid to break.

i have a 7 year old daughter who has broken mad tablets, but her 2ds is durable like a mf, plus she seems to enjoy more than the actual home consoles that we have

Thanks for the responses. He will be getting a 2DS

One more question.

He loves Pokémon, but I think the main game would be a bit too complicated for him.

Is there a more kids friendly spin off I can get for him?

Pokemon rumble, shuffle are more puzzle like and feature pokemon. They're alright games, but nothing like the original ones.

I've heard the Pokemon Dungeon Games are good too but never played them myself.

If you want to get into the virtual console, there is the Pokemon Trading Card Game for the GBC that has many of the elements of the original.

The 2ds is nice, I have one myself cause I don't fukk with the 3d feature

It'd be great for a 6 year old, and you can probably find it cheap as hell next month

Think I got it for like $79 with a Mario Kart 7 code included, so should be even cheaper than that now

:whoa: Hopefully you didn't cop one yet, you're better off jumping on the 3DS Black Friday deal for $99

A limited edition New Nintendo 3DS will be just $99.99 on Black Friday

I saw this. I guess he's getting a 3DS :ehh:

My next question is what accessories would he need with it?

Does it take extra storage cards? Can you download the games?
Yeah you can download games and it has microsd card storage. It comes with a 4gb card and has 1 gb internal memory.
Don't forget you have to buy the charger separately. (Nintendo got heavy criticism over this. I still can't believe they would do something so stupid).
Other than that you might want to get him a case for it and a screen protector. At that age he likely wont be careful with it.
There's a TON of age appropriate games so if you need suggestions let me know.
Most are the ones you're familiar with already though.

And I don't remember, but I believe you can disable the 3d function through the OS.
Of course you could just turn it off with the slider on the side, but I could have sworn there was functionality to disable it altogether in the settings.

There's also parental controls if you're inclined.

As @Kamikaze Revy said you can download games on the eShop, and it takes memory cards.

Screen protectors are nice and are the hori cases.

TYRONE GA!
Thinking about getting one for my son for Christmas.

Is the 2DS a bad system?

I don't think he really needs 3D, and he will probably just break the damn thing anyway.

That 2DS price looking good.

So should I save the money or is the 3DS worth the extra money?

Get a 3DS XL fam. My 4 year plays his 9 year old brother's 3DSXL just fine. And he has had an Ipad mini since 3 years old.
