He ain't really making that many hits for Drake though....there's usually a co-producer who does the body of the beat and 40 adds that ambient synth cloudrap shyt over them.

Mark the 45 King produced two of the biggest hip hop songs EVER and get's very little recongition, even when he died it was low key.

Does 40 make actual tracks tho?

I heard several years ago he was sending oit emails or texts to ppl saying they're looking for "sound like Drake" tracks for a project.

From then on I just assumed he took other ppls tracks and just tweaked them

40 more than likely doesnt do shyt like drake
Just a figurehead getting credit for other peoples work.

:mjlol: Your Math is off. Mic Geronimo was 1993/1994. The last production credit Irv got was on the Ye album and the song went 2× Platinum. That's literally 25 years but according to you 40 has the longer run.

Also. 40 never had a super successful record label with 2 ( not 1) superstars nor did he have a 2"season series tv show on BET but according to you 40 is more successful.
:laff:
1.)Yes more successful because he has more hit records.

Thats a fact

They both heavily use co producers do Irv can’t even knock him on that.

2.)

One fluke record when you been washed for a decade plus does not mean your run was still on:russ:

This is why I don't rate him highly. I look at him more as a co-producer.

If you look at the list of singles on his Wiki, the only Drake song on that list he produced himself is Successful. The other 3 solo productions are Aaliyah, JoJo and PND songs. Every other song is co-produced

He’s not a colleague he fukking colonizer

My assumption later became he tweaked tracks, put the lo-pass filter on them and took the main prod. credit.

Could be wrong tho. I don't want to short him if he really was making those tracks, i just have my doubts

40 will be better known for his engineering and the underwater drums and hazy RnB samples than his actual beats

He definitely pioneered an aesthetic that dominated for a while until the If You're Reading This project when Drake became a pseudo-street rapper and started really trend hopping

The albums since then have maybe 2-3 "40" esque records and the rest is whatever is hot regionally/internationally at the moment. It's why Drake music will age like milk aside from the big hits

The part where you totally ignored the fact that Irv had a super successful record label with Murder Inc and 40 has absolutely no record label but you still say 40 is more successful is some Grade A trolling.

Who has more hit records? 40 or Irv?

Youre confusing label head with successful profucer

Irv is a more successful ceo.

40 is a more successful music producer.

:comeon:
That's like saying Drake is a more successful rapper over Jay Z because Drake got more hit records while ignoring the fact that Jay Zs mogul status towers over Drake. And ain't nobody gonna consign that for Drake so we not doing that in this thread for 40. Nope.

40 is also a low key GREAT engineer and mixer.

It's def interesting that he sticks to being the in-house producer/studio guy no matter what. I'm amazed at how low key he is, even when he wasn't sick. A somewhat comparable guy would be Sounwave, Kendrick's in-house guy. But he has produced multiple tracks for Taylor Swift and other big artists, whereas 40 sticks with Drake. I respect it, interesting dynamic.
